Using Marianne
Folders
A folder is a conversation with Marianne about one subject: a formality, a question, a letter to understand. Write on the home page to start one (ctrl+enter opens a new one from anywhere). « + pièce » attaches a document, and the menu next to the « envoyer » (send) button chooses the folder’s engine.
Ongoing folders are in the left column, with « chercher » (search) at the top to find one. Those you put on hold come back on the date you chose, and those you file stay within reach, under « Classés » (filed).
Your approval
Anything that changes your profile, fills in a form, signs, pays or sends goes through you first: Marianne shows it to you on a card, and waits for your approval.
The built-in browser
Marianne opens the sites it needs in the folder’s browser, on the right (the « navigateur » button). It asks for your approval before going online, and always before signing, paying or sending. You can take over (« prendre la main ») at any time. This browser forgets everything when the archive locks.
The pages
- Actualités (news): the news from several newspapers, the day’s events, a few figures about France.
- Démarches (formalities): the areas of your administrative life (taxes, health, housing, family…), each with its dashboard and its guided formalities, step by step.
- Services: the 3615 codes, METEO, PEAGE, CARTE, PARLEMENT, ANNUAIRE. The star makes a service a favorite. A service that needs part of your profile, like your license plate for the tolls, asks you first.
Your profile
In Réglages › Moi (Settings › Me), you can fill in your identity, your household and your documents. It’s optional: it helps Marianne prepare your formalities. See Your data for what the engine sees of it.
In Réglages › Identité, you may also say which political groups you feel close to, and which themes matter to you, if you wish. Your leaning only serves to compare: 3615 PARLEMENT tells you whether your representatives vote as your ideas, without sorting or hiding anything. Your themes bring forward the news and the ballots about them. You choose which services may read them, and see when they did.
The keys
Like on a Minitel, the bottom bar shows the screen’s keys:
| Key | What it does | Shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| ENVOI | send | enter |
| ANNULATION | stop Marianne, close | esc |
| CORRECTION | edit my last message | ↑ |
| RÉPÉTITION | redo the answer | ctrl+R |
| SUITE | next page | page down |
| RETOUR | previous page | page up |
| SOMMAIRE | the app’s menu | ctrl+space |
| GUIDE | help, links, your shortcuts | F1 |
Also: ctrl+K for commands, ctrl+alt+space to search everywhere, ctrl+, for settings, ctrl+shift+R to reload the window. In a service, F2, F3… open its tabs, and F1 its guide. On macOS, cmd replaces ctrl, except for the menu and search. All of them can be changed in Réglages › Raccourcis clavier (Settings › Keyboard shortcuts).
