Your data
On your computer
Everything you give Marianne, your folders, your documents and your profile, is in your archive, encrypted with your passphrase. Marianne has no server and no online account: nothing is sent to it.
What the engine sees
The engine, Claude Code, Codex or Mistral Vibe, works with your account at its maker. It receives the text of your conversations and what it needs to help you, but never your identifiers in clear: social security number, tax number, name, address, IBAN… are replaced by tokens, and put back in place only on your screen. The maker’s terms apply to what it receives. It never receives your political leaning or your themes.
What goes online
Marianne fetches public information (the news, the services’ data) from its public sources, opens the formalities’ websites in its browser, and downloads its updates from GitHub. These requests carry nothing personal, except what you agreed to: the part of your profile a service asked you for, like your license plate for the tolls, and what Marianne fills in for you on a website, with your approval.
Backing up
In Réglages › Place et emplacement (Settings › Space and location):
- copie de sauvegarde (backup copy): an encrypted copy of the archive, to keep elsewhere, on a USB key or another disk.
- tout exporter (export everything): your documents, your conversations and your profile, as ordinary, unencrypted files.
The same page shows the space left. Marianne warns you when the archive is 80% full. Once full, it no longer accepts new documents.
Without the passphrase or the recovery key, nobody can open the archive again, not even us: keep your recovery key somewhere safe.
